UPDATE June 17, 2022:

Due to increased COVID-19 rates across the state of Colorado, we are implementing policies to increase the current protections in place for campers and staff at our overnight camps.

Effective immediately, campers and families should be aware of the updated requirements to attend GSCO camp:

  1. Campers are required to have a negative COVID-19 test at check-in. This can include:

    1. A digital photo of a negative rapid COVID-19 test, taken at home or a doctor’s office, dated within 24 hours before camp arrival.

    2. If families are unable to obtain an at-home COVID-19 rapid test, then one can be provided by camp staff that is administered upon arrival at camp.

      • We ask that families attempt to administer an at-home COVID-19 rapid test to cut down on check-in times at camp that will be lengthened due to COVID-19 tests administered at camp.

      • Note: Test results vary by manufacturer, but many say that results after 15-30 minutes could fade and be altered, and readings should not be observed after this window. Please do not bring us your actual COVID-19 test unless you took it on your way within that window. Please refer to the directions in your COVID-19 rapid test with details.

  2. Campers and staff will be required to cover their nose and mouth with a well-fitted and appropriate face mask or respirator (ex: KN95, disposable surgical masks, cloth masks) in all indoor settings outside of their assigned cohort, with exceptions of eating, drinking, showering, and sleeping. We encourage campers to bring several of your preferred mask types, and we will also have masks available at camp.

While COVID-19 vaccines are not required to attend camp, we are reminding families about CDC definitions around vaccinations, as this determines protocols for exposure or positive COVID-19 tests at camp. Fully vaccinated people are considered to have received three COVID-19 shots. If it has been 5 months since your child’s second shot, your child is eligible for a 3rd (booster) shot. Once your child receives the 3rd COVID-19 booster shot, your child is immediately considered up-to-date and fully vaccinated. If your child shows signs or symptoms related to the reaction of the booster shot, camp staff is happy to support your child through their reactions.

We will continue to provide regular updates, as needed and appropriate, and will provide prompt notification of any COVID-19 or other health-related concerns that require your attention. We refer to recommendations from the CDC, the state of Colorado, and the American Camp Association and update our processes as needed. We encourage you to contact us with questions and concerns. Please email us at Risk.Management@gscolorado.org.
