COVID-19
GSCO is excited to be planning summer outdoor programs for 2021! While we are thrilled for resident camp to return, we know things will look different this summer. Because safety of girls, staff, and volunteers is always our No. 1 priority, we must adapt to our current environment and consider how best to give girls an amazing summer experience and give caregivers and staff peace of mind.
We are working closely with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the American Camp Association, Association of Camp Nurses, the CDC, and the Colorado Governor’s office as the COVID-19 regulations and guidance for 2021 camps are still being determined. We do know that session offerings, schedules, capacity, and design of our camp programs will be adapted this upcoming year for enhanced safety measures.
If summer were today, we could operate at less than 50% capacity and that is where we are allowed to set sessions when registration opens. Registration for resident camp will open in late January/early February and we will have very limited spots available.
We are hopeful that we might be able to add capacity later this spring if things get better and it is safe to do so, but we also have to be realistic that summer 2021 will have many COVID-19 considerations. With that in mind, we are coming up with additional creative, safe ways to get Girl Scouts a summer camp experience through troop and day programming. Watch for more on that in the coming months. We appreciate your patience as we work through this ever-changing situation keeping what’s best for our girls top of mind.
