Letters to our community
To Our Sky High Ranch community,
We know you all have been waiting anxiously for a final decision regarding summer camp and with a heavy heart, we have to tell you that effective today, Girl Scouts of Colorado has made the decision to cancel all summer camp programs through July 31.
Sky High Ranch has been an outdoor experience for girls for almost 70 years, so as you can imagine, this was not an easy decision. GSCO and our Board of Directors, Emergency Response Team, and the entire Outdoor Programs team took the advice of public health experts and consulted with GSUSA and other camp organizations to aid in this incredibly difficult decision.
Camp has been a huge part of our lives for many, many years, and the heartache of not providing a summer camp experience is real and strongly felt. But, in the end, it comes down to the safety and well-being of our girls, their families, as well as you and yours.
There is too much uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 to take the risk of gathering and living together in large groups. We have been working on contingency plans (such as virtual programs) and still have hopes of providing some sort of programming in the latter part of the summer – we just cannot guess exactly what that will look like yet, or if it will be staffed program.
In these uncertain times, it is important to remember what camp is about -- the family, friendships, connections with each other, nature and animals, and the self-growth and awareness we all experience. With this, I hope you continue to be a part of Sky High’s story and growth.
Thank you for your time and dedication in preparation for camp and we know that 2021 will be even more amazing for the challenges we will overcome today. Thank you for helping us write Sky High’s story and we are excited to see the passion and excitement you bring to 2021!
Let the Adventures Begin,
Ruddy and Pebbles
